Safer Internet Day

February 9th is celebrated as Safer Internet Day. It is the day to remember importance of responsible and conscious Internet usage. This year, each school participating in this project has organized some activities that covered topics of how to use internet in a smart and safe way.

More than any other year before, this time it was important to cover various topics regarding safe internet usage. After months of practically living solely online, it was necessary to remind ourselves that there should be some rules and boundaries on what to do on the Internet. While February 9th was International Safer Internet Day, its celebration took almost whole week in some schools.

Students who participate in SWOT VET project had two main tasks to do. First one was to create Padlet board which gathers various materials regarding safe Internet usage. They collected infographics, videos, even added Interland which is a video game made by Google during which players, through different missions, learn lessons regarding how to be responsible on Internet and protect your own data – which is, in these modern times, the most valuable asset.

The second task was for each student to write definition of one important term connected to Internet technology. All of these definitions were collected in one virtual book called Safe Internet Dictionary.

We recommend checking out these materials and learning something useful about how to behave on Internet. Though it is virtual place, some things that happen online might have serious implication on real life. Be SMART – use Internet wisely!
